That's me out of action for a while!
Volunteer Beaver Ranger Mike MacIntyre and I were investigating some new tree felling activity on Sunday when I stepped on a slippery branch, that was cunningly hidden under some moss. Down I went to the tune of a sharp crack from my ankle.
Unfortunately we were on the opposite side of the Loch from the vehicle so I had to get myself back down through the forest on my bum, scramble into the canoe, paddle back to shore and then use the paddles as crutches back to the car! Luckily Mike could to drive me.
At the hospital they patched me up for the night and sent me home since they don't DO x-rays on a Sunday! As it turns out, the ankle doesn't seem to be broken but was almost dislocated and has severe tissue damage. It would be better if it were broken since breaks apparently take less time to mend!
It feels a bit odd sitting here issuing directions to the team of beaver trackers who are out in the field this week. Maybe I could get used to it! Though I doubt it :o(
I'm bored already :o(

Looks like somebody got slowed down.
OH NO!!! That's the same foot I had break!! :(
Oh, Jenny! What did you DO? Your last twitter update said you were going to be 'entering data'...
We're going to have to get this girl a Desk Job!
Uh oh! Looks like I'll have to take a trip overseas to help be a nurse! I'm great at chewing on bandages! Goat kisses from Isobelle!
Oh my!
That does NOT look conducive to your lifestyle!
Oh HAPPY day??? If that's happy, I think I'm afraid to see sad...
Hope you're on the mend!
Sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope you are on the mend pretty soon. PS Who was a little star on the TV the other night then?
OMG! Bucking for a time out, were you? Wow. Take it easy and you'll be up and around in no time. In the meantme, relax and collect autographs on your cast. :o)
Oooh, rotten luck. Did they spray blu-kote on it for you? Oh no wait, that's at the vet, not the hospital! :-)
The good thing is, now that you are stuck like this, you have the perfect excuse to do some hand carding of fleece, some spinning, some knitting, and various other fibre crafts. At least, that's what I'd do! I hope you heal quickly.
Plenty of time for blogging then.
Sorry about your accident, hope it's not too painful at least.
I once slipped on rotting grass cuttings and broke my ankle; it took ages to mend and I didn't even sue the blighters who'd dumped the grass in a public place.
Ouch ouch ouch and ouch . . .
